Maybe we like it a bit crunchy. I just know the BEST corn on the cob I have ever tasted was at Derron's Dad's house (that man can cook) and he said, "The rule with corn is 3 minutes. Put it in boiling water and boil with no lid for 3 minutes. Take off heat, leave uncovered and in the water until ready to eat." Another tip I read about a while back is to put a bit of fresh squeezed lemon juice in the water.
