Spring Fever and goings-on

The weather the last week has been strange to say the least, first smog, then a rain/snow storm, then the next day SUN! To say the very least I am feeling it bad, I need Spring. The sad thing is that it is still 4 weeks away. I was so happy to see someone don a lime green jacket to church on Sunday though! We're finally seeing our grass again and I can actually see the post of our mailbox too! I don't think I've seen it since around Thanksgiving. The kids are in the same boat as I am. Gunnar now thinks that if the sun is shining, he better put on short-sleeves, even though it's 34 degrees.

Here's a pic I took of the baby in her Uncle Juddy classic "don't take a picture of me" pose. Sydney is in the final stages of nursing. She's been down to 1 AM and 1 PM feeding for the last 5-6 weeks. She knows when I give her a cup of milk or juice first thing in the AM that I'm trying to substitute and will throw it across the room and have a fit. So I had an epiphany on the elliptical machine the other morning. WHAT IF....I give her something first thing that is nutritious, filling and YUM enough that she won't reject it? Hmmmm. The Sydney Baby Smoothie was born. This morning I put a little ice, yogurt, banana and apple juice in the blender - stuck it in a cup with a straw, like the ones you get with a kiddie meal at Olive Garden, and bingo! It tastes just like a Jamba Juice. She sucked it down - I think it was about 10 oz. And we're down to 1 feeding before bedtime! Sorry if this is TMI for you, but it's a major victory for me!

  2. Okay Natalie, I am very impressed! Way to go, I am still lagging back in the dark ages, but I admire your bravery. Let's hope for many more bead nights to come. Liz

  3. I'm so glad you are doing this. I've been wondering lately what you are up to. My friend Alison does a blog, too, and I love reading it. I've been pondering the idea of doing one myself. Maybe one of these days.

Your kids are so cute! Savannah looks so much like you it's crazy!

  4. Brilliant thinking on the baby smoothie. I'm so glad it worked!

When I left home this morning it was 19 with wind chill, make-your-head-hurt cold. I arrived in Phoenix in my black, long sleeved shirt and was sweating! It's probably only 75 degrees, but WHAT a contrast! I can't wait for spring, either!

  5. Way to go Natalie! Getting a blog. I've never had one but I have my own website so that kinda makes up for it. Loves the pics and the story about Gunnar putting on short sleeves.
