Out of the Nest

Sydney started preschool yesterday!

At 3 1/2, she is the youngest of our kids to start preschool. Living in the wild, wild west, where children only go to half day kindergarten, it wasn't necessary (or desired) to put them into preschool earlier than the year before. The kids were plenty socialized from play-dates and family life and did just fine.
I was planning to do the same with Sydney, but had considered the possibility of a co-op with a friend (or two) this year.

I'm not sure what I was thinking, but about mid-May, reality smacked me over the head like a ton of bricks. KINDER IS FULL DAY HERE. Yikes! I couldn't fathom having her go from 3 day per week half days to ALL day EVERY day! I needed to do that program THIS year and then move her to 5 days per week half days, next year.

Luckily I had some good local friends to give me recommendations of where to look that were affordable as well as being great programs. I was able to secure a spot for Sydney at a nearby preschool that fits what we had in mind.

She'll go Tue/Wed/Thurs to school. She also has Library Storytime and Tumbling on Mondays and Ballet/Tap Combo class on Fridays. She'll be a busy little chicky, but don't worry, she'll get some down time too. We LOVE us some quiet time while the sibs are at school!

  1. She looks so cute! Love the skirt and Claire would be totally jealous of her butterfly backpack (she has to use a school-issued tote). Can you believe that our babies are in preschool? Crazy and totally awesome at the same time.
