...of the scissors, it seems.
Sydney did it again. She found them. And used them. This is the 4th time she has cut her own hair. Each time, she has gotten the bangs....to the roots. This time, she got a section underneath the bangs...just a small one...and moved directly to the sides. "They were BUGGING me MOM!" I guess we need to make sure to brush and style her hair first thing in the morning, because if it hangs in her face, she WILL cut it off.
The result was almost a mullet...almost the entire front half of her head was choppy...about 4 inches long...
What to do, what to do?
I tried doing ponytails, but then the short sections stuck out like sore thumbs. It was pitiful. Such a cute girl, and her head was a mess.
Finally I decided to take her to a kids' cut place and see if they could work some magic. I was thinking an inverted bob would look cute and might camouflage the short stuff she had added.
Let's not mention that I chose THE DAY BEFORE THE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL STARTS to have this done....so it was a 2 hour ordeal at the place..Okay? Okay.
The results were way beyond what I thought I could expect.
And I even had a coupon for $8 off left over from my Welcome Wagon packet.
I just clippie back the short stuff up front, and you can hardly tell.
She's all ready for preschool, folks! One week from today!
Crossing my fingers (and surely cursing myself for saying this)...neither of my kids have given themselves a haircut. I did it to myself right before kindergarten pictures...almost ZERO bangs. Awesome.
ReplyDeleteSydney looks GREAT. If you hadn't said what happened, I never would have guessed. What I want to know is did you take "before" pics or do you have ones from the past? I want to see! ;)
She looks even older (AKA more ready for preschool) with that sophisticated style.
ReplyDeleteI'm getting excited to see you all in 2 weeks!
I didn't take any really good before shots. I do have some when I had pulled her hair back for dance after the self-cut, but you can't really tell because I had clipped the short stuff and put the rest in a bun.
ReplyDeleteJust trust me, it was horrible...it looked stringy too. I just wanted to cry. I couldn't even be around her for an hour after I discovered it. (Because she is old enough to know better and because we had been through it just around Christmastime last year.)
The lady that cut it did some really awesome layering work that made Syd's hair perk up on top of hiding the short stuff....
I bet Mommy is ready for some preschool after that little disaster! I have to say though she looks amazing! You turned lemons into lemonade. I would DIE if my twins did this...
ReplyDeleteshe's going to preschool! Can you smell that freedom? Is it wonderful? What will you do with your time?
ReplyDeleteHeadbands will also hold the short pieces back.
Her haircut is really cute!
YES, she IS going to preschool (and I am SO ready!).. I guess a post is coming up about that decision. Stay tuned for next week...she starts Tuesday!
