Jimmy Crack Corn, and I DON'T CARE!

Seriously, I found an old frozen can (in the outdoor shed), THAT is the name of the color of the paint in our kitchen....JIMMY CRACK CORN. I can prove it. It's the color of mustard, smeared onto a napkin and wiped haphazardly all over the walls, and lapped onto the ceiling.. Now it's only on the vinyl window frames since apparently the previous owners didn't believe in using any tape when they painted. I don't think they did any prep, and they even bought some 10 year warranty paint that they used in our basement.....I didn't even think they made that crap anymore. Lifetime is the standard on paint, it's worth it. Don't be cheap.

So, what DO YOU DO when you finish painting the GINORMOUS living room with 1 and a 1/2 days left with your awesome sister willing to help you out??? You start a NEW project! ON TO THE KITCHEN>>>

Contrasting new and old paint.

TAPING....I think we're up to 5 rolls at this point.

Pretty, neutral kitchen ;O) Looks a lot better with the green counter tops than yellow, I have to say.

Big bag-o-tape, this is the 2nd one. And worth EVERY PENNY!

The dining area of the kitchen, 24 hours after we started. And I have to say I'm LOVING how the dark furniture POPS against this mellow color. It's positively RADIANT in the sunlight! I'm so thrilled!

  1. You are more than amazing!!! It looks awesome!

  2. HI Nat! What a treat to have so much of your house freshly painted in so short a time, and it looks wonderful. Can't wait to see it in person in A FEW DAYS (giggle). We thought about you all day Saturday and it took a lot to keep from calling to see how it was going, but we didn't want to disrupt the magic opportunity for the two of you to kick paint butt. Congrats on the job well done, and enjoy it every time you walk into the room.

  3. I agree with you. I love how the dark furniture stands out so much. I love the new color.

  4. Wow, these pictures really don't do the Jimmy Crack Corn justice, especially because it's applied as the second color in the "sponge technique." Love the "Baked Scone."

You know, once I was on the plane today I was thinking, 'We totally should've knocked out the hallway while we had paint out for the 2nd coat in the kitchen! Projects - they're like a drug to me!

  5. Oh yeah, that DR rocks! Very nice! The white trim just frames it all together and makes it look so nice and clean!

  6. Now I want to paint! My bedroom is in serious need of a makeover, and I also have a boy nursery to do! Hmmm..

Oh and in some of these pictures, it is hard to tell if I am looking at Nat or Kasey at first. You are twins!
