Blah Remedy

Sheena of Sheenanigans is one of my new fav bloggy-bloggers! She has such a fun writing style, and cute kids to ohhh and ahhh over.

Today she is talking about those winter blahs that like to set in and what you can do to beat them. Especially when the snow starts to melt a little and you can SEE those crocus greens popping up. You KNOW it's coming, but not fast enough.....I know, it was just last week I was wishing for more snow storms for all our sledding adventures....but those darned blahs can sneak up on you.

Anyway, my plan is to put the kids in fun bright colors, like the ones pictured below. The dress is SO LAST SPRING, but pair it with an orange l/s tee and those cute stripey knee high socks (Target, people!) and you've got a cute frost-proof outfit. She wore it with pink snowboots that day.

What are you doing to beat back the blahskis?

  1. I heard Davidowitz commenting on the state of the economy. He said that everything that can be sold in a mall and every company associated with those types of purchases is losing right now. Target is really hurting right now, hence the clearances to get you to buy SOMETHING! The other thing he said was that the grocery companies that are doing really well are the ones with the lowest prices (Wal-Mart), because when people cut back, they automatically go for private label brands -- those are thriving in this economy. (Example: Whole food stores are suffering, but Trader Joe's is raking it in!) Then the commentator doing the interview said, "Right, because you can wear last year's clothes because you can't eat last year's food." So HEY you're right there with the rest of the style world --wearing last year's clothes in a new combination! That's HIP and TRENDY! :-) PS: I wear my clothes in new combinations for about 5 years until they wear out. You'd think I could just go "get" something, but I'm so hard to please! It's MUCH easier to combine a piece I love with something new than get an entirely new wardrobe every season. I may not be a trendy fashionista, but I like doing it that way. Go Savi - love the punch of color!

  2. OH MAN! I WISH we had a Trader Joe's here.... Who do I need to write a letter to?

And S, you always look great...I think most of us Moms add a piece here and a piece there and coordinates with existing outfits.... At least I don't know any who go out and buy a whole new wardrobe at a time like we have to do for the kids...

  3. I am seriously in the blah blah blah's. Sick of winter, and all the gear. So I think I am going to soak up some sun... maybe I can bring some home with me.

  4. Winter blahs haven't really affected me this year, but maybe that's because I spend most of my days in an office, regardless of the weather. By the weekend, I'm so happy to be at home, that it doesn't me to be stuck in the house! And it's already in the 50's here, nice enough to be jogging. So, I'm loving the cool temps, because it's so uncomfortable and humid here during the summer. It's all relative, I guess.

Cute new combo for Savi, BTW.

  6. I bought myself a bunch of fresh flowers a few weeks ago to perk our house up after the ice storm week. I seriously can't believe the difference it made. To beat the winter blahs we are headed south of the border this week! All mexican, all the time. Tonight, taco salad. tomorrow cafe rio sweet pork and a gringo party. Really! everyone who comes gets a name like Carmelita or Alfonzo, we're making virgin margaritas and everything is from scratch-even the black beans. Latin music, funny party game, and of course-a sombrero! It should be fun.
Other menu items this week are chile con carne, breakfast burritos, spanish rice and carnitas. YUM! my tummy can't wait! We'll just pretend that it isn't cold and raining all next week! I might have to buy me some more tulips. Now that valentine's day is over, i bet they're on sale again!

  8. Sadly, I don't think they have the BG sizes in THAT color combo...they do have some sweet green ones, in preparation for St Paddy's, I'm sure!
