We are Jack-o-lanterns

...boo...boo...BOO!

My kids love Halloween. In fact, it is Gunnar's favorite holiday. As soon as it's October, it's all about decorating the house, costume decisions, and the anticipation of it all. SO far, Savannah is going to be a tiger....convenient, since that was what her dance recital costume was this year. We just have to warm it up a bit with some black pants and long sleeve shirt. Gunnar WAS going to be a mummy, but has now decided he wants to be a ninja. I think the sword turned the tide on that one. Sydney is going to be Fifi, the poodle. I found the cutest costume at Old Navy for $15. Totally soft and will keep her so warm. Love that place. Not sure if I'll dress up this year. We'll see.

What are you and your's going to be?

  1. Those will be cute costumes!

I don't know if I'm going to dress up this year, since Jimmie won't be here. We always come up with funny ideas for couples costumes, but then never execute because we don't have a party to wear them to. I think a friend of mine needs to throw a Halloween party. I might dress up then. I did buy spider slippers with red flashing eyes that I'm going to wear all day on 10/31.

  2. We're still working on costumes. I think Spencer will be Harry Potter (such a great costume, used 3 times), Samuel will be a neon green skeleton (sans mask) with face painted green, Mia will be some sort of Barbie princess. I forget the girl's name at present, but it starts with an A... Audra?

Matthew has a grand plan to make one, so we'll see what he does. I bought a long sleeved black shirt yesterday at Wal-Mart (of all places!) with sparkly "SPOOKY" on the front. Too cute to leave on the rack! I'll wear it with my ELVIRA wig. Mark always wears his leather jacket and his ELVIS wig. So funny when he turns up his jeans and wears big old Frankenstein shoes with them! That's it for us. The kids painted pumpkins this morning to decorate our mantle with. I must say, that witch face reminds me of the mask Teri Bernasconi used to wear under her red shawl every year! Did you know that Wal-Mart is selling Obama, Hillary, and McCain masks? Too funny. That's a first.

  3. I've been looking for a nice witch get-up for a few years, but haven't found the ONE yet. Maybe I"ll just get a wig and a sparkly tee too. That sounds like a winning plan! Maybe when I do find a witch costume, I'll add the Hillary mask.....that would RULE. Love the slipper idea too. Fun stuff. One of these years we'll have to do a family theme, like Flinstones, or Goldilocks and the 3 Bears...or 4..

  5. Love the decor. We are still in the decision making process of costumes. Micah wants to be a cell phone that you make out of a box. We saw it online. I don't think he knows who his mom is. I bought him the CUTEST costume today at Childrens' Place (a pirate/skeleton-way cute). It didn't cut it for him-still wants the cell phone. Oh dear!!

  7. The 4th would be CHRIS> Pshyco. Not gonna do-it.... (insert Bush accent here)

  8. That's what I figured, but you never can be too sure. It was the dot, dot, dot that did my doubt in! LOL!
